Minister's Musings
The fourth of July, for a Christian, is more than simply the celebration of the birth
of our nation. It is an acknowledgement that God had a hand in our birthing and
will, if we allow Him, continue to grow and nurture our nation.

Today, I share with you the words of our 6th President, John Quincy Adams, (son
of our 2nd President, John Adams). “To the guidance of the legislative councils, to
the assistance of the executive and subordinate departments, to the friendly
cooperation of the respective State governments, to the candid and liberal
support of the people so far as it may be deserved by honest industry and zeal, I
shall look for whatever success may attend my public service; and
knowing that, “except the Lord keep the city the watchman waketh but in vain,”
with fervent
supplication for His favor, to His overruling providence I commit with humble but
fearless confidence my own fate and the future destinies of my country.”

I care not what one’s party affiliation may be; if this is his or her heart’s desire, he
or she shall be my candidate.  But more to the point. What is our heart’s desire
this July 2008? As the general election begins to rev up, what are you looking for
in a candidate? What he or she
might deliver to us individually or corporately? Or are you looking for a candidate
who will trust his or her presidency in the hands of God as did President J.Q.
Adams. Notice also Adams spoke of support of the people, as was deserved, by
honest industry and zeal.  Would those words fit our life? Should we really expect
anything without that approach to life?

May each of us this July, with honest industry & zeal, commit ourselves to God
who placed us in the greatest nation that ever was. With blessings 2/3 of the rest
of the world cannot imagine may we be faithful to the privileges that are ours and
in turn to all may we, by His power, bless the lives of others. For it is in this that
America has become great.

May God continue to bless America that we may share His blessings with others.
